Natuurlijk Installation, animation
Humans have a need for control, beauty, and order. This manifests itself, for example, mowing of lawns and the planting of trees in straight lines. Natuurlijk depicts a piece of nature, detached from an existing landscape and adapted to our desires and needs. Nature is approached as we often see it: as an aesthetic object, as decoration.

Flowers are available in stores year-round. But do they bloom year-round? No. Yet, we experience this constant availability as convenient and self-evident.

Natuurlijk exaggerates the human need to shape, control, and use nature as a backdrop to the point of absurdity. It presents an image of flowers that is impossible in nature: with unrealistically bright colors and distorted shapes. The combination of nature and technology creates flowers that can be switched on and off. A controlled, staged version of the natural process.
